Yesterday, just as we were getting ready to open the pit gates, the speedway was hit by an intense thunderstorm. A lightning strike knocked out the power to the main concession stand. Most of our staff was already at or near the track. We had just received a full shipment of food. Everyone chipped in to help move freezers, refrigeration units and the beer coolers. The whole process took more than two hours and a lot of muscle.
