Big Enduro Payday for Halloween Havoc winners


MALTA – Christmas came early for a couple of enduro drivers Saturday afternoon at the annual Halloween Havoc at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.

Eric Rothaupt won the 100-lap race for four-cylinder cars, and Pat O'Connor took the checkered flag in the 100-lapper for six-cylinders, and each driver walked off with $1,000 for the victories.

Scott Luckey finished second in the four-cylinder race, with Brent Henry third.

Following O'Connor across the finish line in the six-cylinder 100-lapper were Brandon Uline and Randy Martin.

Dave Trombley won the eight-cylinder enduro and earned $300. He was followed by Paul Harding and Scott Lussier.

The special ladies-only, mini-van enduro was won by Callie Boston (aka Sharon Richards), who said she really had to work for the victory, and who thanked "the guys" for providing a mini van that actually went the distance for 20 laps (unlike last year!).

In addition to the enduros, the limiteds and mini-stocks were also in action, and there was a test-and-tune period for drivers in all other divisions, creating a packed pit on an October Saturday afternoon.

The fans were on their feet at the end of the limited feature, as Rocky Warner charged around Byron Westcott with two laps to go and hit the finish line with a couple of inches to spare.

Westcott and John Filarecki swapped the lead on three occasions before Warner put on a late charge. D.J. Brundige finished fourth, and Bill Duprey was fifth.

Brette Osgood moved to the front on the final lap to win the mini-stock feature. Shane Marks led most of the race, but made one mistake on the final lap and it cost him, as he fell back to fifth.
