Promoter DeVore is ready to Git-r-Done when Brett Hearn brings the ‘Big Show 4’ to Albany-Saratoga Speedway
Race promoter Lyle DeVore is anxious to get what is speculated to be the biggest show to hit the Capital District area when Brett Hearn brings his ‘Big Show 4’ event to Albany-Saratoga Speedway on Tuesday, July 10th.
The title event is a 100-lap Super DIRTcar Modified Series event, the fourth on the series schedule, which offers a $30,000 payoff.
“I think the excitement is surrounding not only the event, but what’s happening at the event itself,” said DeVore. “I’m excited that Albany-Saratoga Speedway is going to be showcasing the event and that Brett wanted to bring it to the Capital District.
In past years Hearn brought the ‘Big Show’ to Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown [NY] but with Albany-Saratoga Speedway returning to a dirt surface for 2012 Hearn decided to bring the show to a track that, like the Middletown oval, has proven extremely successful for Hearn.
“I’m excited because the track lends itself to some really great two and three wide racing and I think from that standpoint it should be one of the best ‘Big Shows’ we’ve had so far, because it is that kind of track,” said Hearn who currently holds the title for the most wins at the Malta speedplant.
DIRTcar’s traveling tour will bring some crowd favorites including Matt Sheppard, Billy Decker, and Danny Johnson to the 4/10 mile oval for the mid-week event.
“We even had interest from guys that don’t participate in a majority of the DIRTcar Sereis events, they just want to be part of the show,” said DeVore. “It’s not going to be your typical show and that seems to be attracting a lot of people for us.”
The Modifieds will also compete in a Morris Ford sponsored ‘Dash for Cash’. The 12-lap, 10 car, dash will come together from the top five in DIRTcar Series points plus the top four in Albany-Saratoga Speedway points. A fan vote will lock the final driver into the mix.
Four time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Ron Hornaday will join the DIRTcar stars and the Albany-Saratoga Speedway stars in an autograph session from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The popular Pro Stock division will also be part of the show.
The gates will open on the title event at 4:00 p.m. with race time set for a 7:00 p.m. show. Adult general admission tickets are $22 for general admission and $5 for children under 12. Pit admission is set for $30 for members and $35 for non-members.
