Malta Cruise-Ins announced for 2019
Albany-Saratoga Speedway has long been recognized as one of the premiere dirt tracks in the Northeast. But on four Mondays in 2019 the track will be showcasing a far different type of vehicle.
Albany-Saratoga Speedway promoter Lyle DeVore will putting on “Malta Cruise-Ins” for custom vehicles on the second Monday of each month from June to September. Dates of the cruise-ins will be June 10, July 8, Aug.12 and Sept. 9.
Each cruise-in will last from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with DJ Andy Narzynski playing from 5-8. The cruise-ins are open to any car, truck or motorcycle, with no cutoff date. A total of 10 trophies will be given out each night.
“We’ve had a lot success with custom car shows in the past, and it seems like a shame that the speedway grounds aren’t utilized more in the summer” said DeVore, whose father, Stan, who died in October 2016, was one of the original members of the Norseman Street Rod Club.
There will be an area for vendors in the pits, and there will be plenty of parking for spectators. Weighted pop-ups can be utilized, as well. No pets or bicycles will be allowed.
Each month will feature a different theme, as well as interactive activities for participants. There will be no admission fee, but donations for charity will be accepted each month. Each cruise-in will also feature a 50/50 raffle.
If one of the cruise-ins is rained out, it will be carried over to the third Monday of the month.
