Kenny Wallace at Big Show VII // Billy Decker too!
June 16, 2015 (Vernon, NJ) – When Big Show promoter Brett Hearn announced his long time racing friend and NASCAR TV personality Kenny Wallace was coming to Big Show VII to meet, greet, and compete it created a buzz in the Capital Region. It especially caught the attention of weekly competitors at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, as well as Super DIRTcar Series top drivers. Safe to say Kenny Wallace is a perfect fit for a Big Show.
The NASCAR Raceday and Herman Unplugged star is far more than just a fun loving guy you see behind the camera. Kenny Wallace is an accomplished dirt track racer who loves to compete. While his dirt track season may have just went into full swing, Wallace has been racing and winning since January when he raced the Chili Bowl Nationals for the 1st time in his career thanks to Loyet Motorsports and family who owned the midget sprints.
Wallace has multiple feature wins in 2015 driving his familiar Toyota-UNOH sponsored number 36 UMP/IMCA Modified. North Florida Speedway in Lake City Florida, Friendship Speedway in Elkin North Carolina, Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute Indiana, and Paducah International Speedway in Paducah Kentucky are just a few tracks ‘Herm’ has picked up feature wins on the dirt this season.
Kenny Wallace has been planning to make a trip to the great race place for Brett Hearn’s Big Show for some time, but scheduling for the nationally known racer and media personality has kept him away. On July 7th Wallace will finally be able to say he took part in the Big Show competing with some of the best dirt track racing talents on the planet including his racing friend slash promoter Brett Hearn who has over 865 feature wins, over 85 championships, and is the all-time winningest driver at Albany-Saratoga.
With Wallace coming to town to compete in a stout ride along with all Big Show promoter Brett Hearn’s stats, it still doesn’t rattle the defending Super DIRTcar Series champion Mr. Billy Decker. Currently sitting 3rd in SDS points a mere 30 behind Matt Sheppard; Decker is after all the only 2-time winner of Brett Hearn’s Big Show.
Billy Decker picked up his first Big Show championship the very first year Hearn put on the show back in June of 2009. Just two years later in June of 2011 Decker etched his name on the proverbial Big Show championship trophy for the 2nd time. Decker is no stranger to winning big shows, as the ‘Franklin Flyer’ from Unadilla, NY has captured four Super Dirt Week Big Block Modified championships along with six Small Block Modified wins at the Moody Mile.
Decker has won a pair of Lebanon Valley Coors National 200 races and also claimed two Rolling Wheels National 200 titles in his career behind the wheel. Billy has upwards of 150 career Big Block Modified wins alone including over 40 Super DIRTcar Series wins and a Mr. DIRT championship. Billy Decker has also won the Outlaw 200 in his career back in 2009, so it’s safe to count on the Gypsum Racing 91 as a serious contender when Big Show VII rolls around July 7th.
Wallace, Decker, and Brett Hearn will join a host of the absolute best Modified drivers on dirt, which will include Matt Sheppard, Danny Johnson, Jimmy Phelps, Tim Fuller, Larry Wight, Pat Ward, Billy Dunn, Kenny Tremont Jr., Peter Britten, Marc Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Matt DeLorenzo, and a host of Albany-Saratoga Regulars will contend with outside long shots for a Big Show championship.
There have been six big shows to date, with this year’s event being the 4th one at Albany-Saratoga. Billy Decker is the only repeat winner in event history winning Big Show I and Big Show III. No driver has ever finished top five in all six Big Show events, which shows just how stiff the competition is at the Brett Hearn promotion. Big Show VII will prove to be even tougher when the Super DIRTcar Series mid summer classic rolls around.
Big Show VII is scheduled for July 7, 2015 as part of the 50th anniversary of the great race place. NASCAR personality Kenny Wallace will be on hand going toe-to-toe with icons of the Super DIRTcar Series in what promoter Brett Hearn promises to be the best Big Show yet. Mark down the date, take a vacation day from work, and come prepared to get your race on. Be part of a Big Show worthy of celebrating 50 years at the historic Albany-Saratoga Speedway.
