Camara Slate sponsors Empire Super Sprints on May 23rd
Malta, NY – It was nearly 30 years ago that the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints made their maiden voyage to the Great Race Place, and thanks to a special marketing partner, the tour will make its 26th stop at the fast four tenths of a mile oval in just over a week’s time.
With the support of Camara Slate Products the series will make its way to Lyle DeVore’s oval on Friday evening May 23rd. Camara Slate will also help support the series when they make their way to the high banks of the Lebanon Valley Speedway on Saturday June 21st.
Gordy Button won the very first Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint event at Albany-Saratoga on July 13th, 1985. Since then 16 other drivers have parked their 360 cubic inch Sprint Car in victory lane at the track. DIRTcar Modified veteran Stewart Friesen won the most recent series event at Albany-Saratoga. Friesen powered the familiar number 33 to victory in last season’s August 2nd appearance.
“What a race car,” stated Friesen after last season’s win. “I’ve got to thank Doug Emery and Barb Patterson for giving me the opportunity to wheel this thing. We’ve been super fast every where we’ve went this year.”
