Albany-Saratoga locks in SDS date for 2020
MALTA, NY – All the confetti that showered Demetrios Drellos after his victory in the Super DIRT Series race at Albany-Saratoga Speedway hasn’t even been cleaned up yet, but promoter Lyle DeVore has already picked the dates for next year’s show.
The Super DIRT Series will return to Albany-Saratoga Speedway on the weekend of Sept. 25-26, 2020, with a rain date of Sept. 27.
“I just locked in the dates with (DIRTcar Northeast Director) Dean Reynolds this morning,” said DeVore on Wednesday. “The Super DIRT Series will be back that weekend.”
This year’s Super DIRT Series race was the finale of the three-day “Malta Massive Weekend” which was created to fit in with the “Come “N Get It” season opener, which was rained out four times. But DeVore is only anticipating a two-day show in 2020.
“We’ve got all winter to come up with something special to go with the Super DIRT Series race,” he said.
The 21-year-old Drellos started on the pole and led all 100 laps of last weekend’s race to win $10,000 and earn a guaranteed starting spot in the Billy Whittaker 200 during Super DIRT Week at Oswego. The win was Drellos’ first SDS victory.
