Albany-Saratoga Drivers See Post Season Success
Malta, NY – The weekly field at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway is deep with talent and big names. Once the 2014 season ended in September, track regulars in the DIRTcar Modified, Sportsman, DIRTcar Pro Stock and Street Stock divisions took their talents on the road to compete in some of the biggest events that our sport has to offer.
Leading the way was 2014 DIRTcar Modified Track Champion Brett Hearn. The New Jersey based veteran had an outstanding fall season throughout the northeast. Hearn kicked off the fall campaign by picking up the Mohawk Valley 100 at the Fonda Speedway. This event returned to the Super DIRTcar Series schedule for the first time in nearly a decade.
Following his win at the Track of Champions, Hearn moved on to Super DIRT Week at the New York State Fairgrounds. He timed second quick for the prestigious Syracuse 200 and then seventh quick for the Salute to the Troops 358 Championship, both on Thursday afternoon. Later that evening he picked up the Hurricane 100 event at the Brewerton Speedway, an event that was a part of the 358 Modified Super DIRTcar Series. On Friday night Hearn won the second DIRTcar Modified Triple 20 event and finished fourth in the first 358 Modified Twin 20 event. He then went on to win the biggest DIRTcar 358 Modified event on the schedule, the Salute to the Troops 150.
Hearn continued his post season success by sweeping the annual Eastern States Weekend at the Orange County Fair Speedway. He set fast time for the Eastern States 200 during time trials and then won the event on Sunday. He also won the 358 Modified 100 on Saturday. Hearn finished up the season by finishing second in both events that made up the World Finals at the Dirt Track at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Success in the DIRTcar Modified and 358 Modified ranks was not limited to just Hearn, other drivers that call the Great Race Place home had great, post season runs as well. Kenny Tremont, Jr. finished seventh in the Syracuse 200 and fourth in the Eastern States 200. Batman, Peter Britten finished second in the second Triple 20 event on Friday night of Super DIRT Week. Keith Flach finished an impressive 14th during the Syracuse 200.
