A-S Drivers winning races in early 2020 Florida events
The 2020 racing season got off to an early … and very successful… start for three of Albany-Saratoga Speedway’s sportsman drivers.
Brothers Michael and Tony Ballestero both claimed victories in the 602 Crate Sportsman features at All-Tech Speedway in Lake City, Florida, while Andrew Buff picked up the win in the 602 feature at “The Florida Dream” at North Florida Speedway on Friday night.
Michael Ballestero, a two-time champion at Albany-Saratoga who still tops the all-time sportsman win list with 32 victories, won the first sportsman feature at All-Tech, which was carried over from a rainout on Thursday night, while Tony, who recorded his last win at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in 2005, used a late race pass to win the nightcap. Both victories were worth $1,250.
Michael Ballestero lost his chance at a sweep when he blew the motor in his car during the heat races for the second portion of the show.
The Ballestero brothers had both retired from racing before rejoining the sportsman division at Albany-Saratoga Speedway last year.
Buff, who finished third in points in the sportsman division at Albany-Saratoga Speedway last season, started on the pole and led flag-to-flag at North Florida Speedway to claim the top prize of $1,000.
