A Malta Mumble 8/22/13
In the past month Modified driver Mark Kislowski has been labeled as one of the fastest on the race surface at Albany Saratoga Speedway. In the past three events he scored three top-three performances — last week’s run being his first career Modified win at the ‘Great Race Place.’
Unfortunately due to a caution plagued evening last week Kislowski and race winners in other divisions were shorted from their celebration time on the front straightaway for all to see.
“I got back to the trailer and everybody was a little excited,” recalled Kislowski. “We had an opportunity to celebrate and get our pictures taken out back.”
According to Kislowski his starting spot at the start of the 35-lap event played a role in another successful ride.
“It was a heads up start,” said Kislowski. “We started fourth in the heat race and won that, so I started on the pole — so we were fortunate.”
But he also had 12 time point champion Kenny Tremont breathing down his backside.
“Yeah, I watched the video, Tremont was on me but we held on to pull it off,” said Kislowski. “Our finishes haven’t been as good as the car has been so we are cautiously optimistic that we are moving our program ahead a little bit.”
The 2013 season brought Kislowski two milestones.
“We got our first (Modified) win at Fonda Speedway earlier in the year so the monkey is off our back at both tracks now,” said Kislowski. “I’ve got to thank my crew — I’ve got guys that have been with me since my Sportsman days and some new guys and we all have a good chemistry going, everything is working right now.”
Let’s see if Kislowski can keep that top-three-finish status going on Friday night…
This week Mike ‘Santa’ Sowle offers $2,000 to win Triple 20s for the Modifieds. The Sportsman, Novice Sportsman, a $500 Pro Stock Warrior event and the Street Stocks will make up the racing card.
