A Malta Mumble 7/26/13
If the raging heat kept you away from Albany Saratoga Speedway last Friday then you missed a few things…
Pro Stock driver Rob Yetman’s trip to victory lane got him his 100th career win, so that was pretty exciting. Yetman’s racing career started out running in Cannonball events — add some Pure Stock runs and the DIRTcar Tour for Pro Stocks plus success at Albany Saratoga, Lebanon Valley and Fonda Speedways.
“This is just unbelievable — I never thought in all of my days that I would get to see this but I’ve got to thank everybody along the way,” said Yetman, whose team had a banner made up celebrating the milestone. “I’ve always had some great help — Glen’s been with me for 14 years — the guy knows how I breathe and my sponsors have been the best.”
Matty D. also picked up his first win of the season in the 35-lap Modified feature event. DeLorenzo had been super fast for two weeks. A broken torque arm the previous week squashed any chance for celebrating but not last week. According to DeLorenzo, his Recovery Sports Grill sponsored automobile was fast right at the start of 2013 but then things slowed up.
“This is the first year that I really raced a big block and we’re racing later in the night now, sometimes they run the Sportsman and Pro Stocks ahead of us, so the track is a little more slippery,” explained DeLorenzo.
They struggled a little bit — until a few weeks ago.
“When the feature comes I’m always good early on — we’ve been making changes and researching and I think we may have hit on something,” said the 40 year old DeLorenzo.
Come out tonight and see if DeLorenzo really has hit on something — can he back up last week’s win with another for the BBL Construction sponsored team?
There will be an Eastern States Weekend Qualifier for the Modifieds with the 4 Cylinder division joining the Sportsman, Novice Sportsman, Pro Stock and Street Stock divisions.
