A Malta Mumble 7/11/13
On Tuesday night promoter Brett Hearn and his ‘Big Show 5’ team of helpers took over the Albany Saratoga Speedway to host Hearn’s annual DIRTcar Series event — and folks didn’t leave unfulfilled.
Hearn was offering bright sunny skies, a mid-way full of everything, a pit area packed full of talent, both a Modified and Pro Stock Series showdown — and lots of money. And the people came in droves to see what it was all about.
“You get a little bit nervous on race day,” said Hearn who greeted the race teams as they arrived at the speedway. “There are always the loose ends right down to the last minute that you have to deal with and at some point I want to put my race face on so I am looking forward to tying those up and focus on the race.”
Hearn, rightfully so, wore a huge smile all day.
“It’s like going to a big race — no matter how ready you are or how ready you appear to be — you never feel like you are ready enough,” said Hearn. “But I think we have everything covered, we’ll see.”
Some hours later it was apparent that Hearn had it covered — in all directions. Folks vacated the Malta oval buzzing over what they just witnessed and Hearn’s Madsen Overhead Door team scored the win and the $9,711.00 payday.
“I don’t think we could ask for a better racetrack — a better show,” said AS’s winningest driver. “There was some heavy duty racing.”
Hearn was quick to thank those that helped make the event a huge success. Come out tomorrow night and see if Hearn can back that win up with another at the ‘Great Race Place.’
