2014 Schedule Released for Albany-Saratoga Speedway
Malta, NY – The Albany-Saratoga Speedway is ready for the 2014 racing season, which will be the third under promoter Lyle DeVore. The first green flag will fly in just over a month and a half on Friday evening April 18th. The complete tentative 2014 racing schedule is now available on the track website – www.albany-saratogaspeedway.com. A total of 25 events are tentatively scheduled for the 2014 season.
As in seasons past, the weekly divisions will consist of the DIRTcar Modifieds (combined Big Block and Small Block), Sportsman, DIRTcar Pro Stocks, Street Stocks and Limited Sportsman. The Four Cylinder division will be a semi-regular division. Rules for all divisions can be found on the track website.
Each weekly program will begin at 7 pm with pit gates opening at 4 pm and the grandstand gates opening at 5 pm. General grandstand admission will remain $10 for adults and $2 for kids under the age of 12, unless otherwise noted. Pit admission will be $20 for members and $25 for non-members, unless otherwise noted.
The gates to the fast four tenths of a mile oval will open for the first time on Sunday April 13th for an open test and tune session. Gates will open at noon with practice running from 3-7 pm. The grandstands are free for spectators while pit admission will be $15. All cars and divisions are welcome.
The April 18th opening day program will kick off the race for the track championship in all six divisions. Also, the “Just Looking Band” will perform and there will be free balloons for kids. The first event of the five event Featherfoot Warrior Sportsman Series will highlight the April 25th program. All regular weekly divisions will be in action.
The month of May will kick off with a bang for the Sportsman division as they will compete in a $1,000 to win event that will include all weekly divisions plus the Four Cylinders. The Empire Lightning Sprints will make their only appearance of the season on Friday evening May 9th. It will also be Kids night with all weekly divisions in action. On Friday night May 16th the DIRTcar Modified division will compete in a Mr. DIRT Track U.S.A. qualifier. The Featherfoot Warrior Sportsman Series will also be on hand along with the Four Cylinders.
The season’s second month ends with two big events. The first, on May 23rd will see the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints take to the ultra-fast surface. Heat races will be run for the visiting Sprint Cars and DIRTcar Modifieds only, the remaining weekly divisions will run in a feature only program. Adult general admission will be $14 on this night. The month will close with a $3,000 to win DIRTcar Modified feature event on May 30th.
On Sunday afternoon June 1st the Electric City Riders will take center stage with their AMA sanctioned Motorcycle and ATV races. Gates open at 11 am with racing at noon. The June 6th program will be Autograph Night and will see the Street Stock division compete in a 30 lap event. The following week, Friday June 13th will see the New York State Stock Car Association take center stage in the annual NYSSCA night. There will also be hot rods on display.
The Featherfoot Warrior Series will join the Atlantic Coast Old Timers (ACOT) on the schedule on June 20th while Kiddie Rides will highlight the June 27th program. Independence Day, July 4th will see a massive fireworks display light up the Saratoga County sky. All weekly divisions will be in action.
Brett Hearn will present The Big Show 6 on Tuesday July 8th. It will be presented by Recovery Sports Grill, Ferris and VP Race Fuels. The 100 lap Super DIRTcar Series event will see the Sportsman division also on the card. Adult general admission will be $24 with kids general admission $5.
Weekly action returns three days later on July 11th with a regular racing program highlighted by the DIRTcar Modified division. They will be competing in an Eastern States Weekend qualifier. The 3rd annual Hungry Mike Ronca Memorial DIRTcar Modified Race will be presented on July 18th. The DIRTcar Pro Stock division will compete in a $600 to win event on this night. A King of the Catskills qualifier will round out the month of July on the 25th. The Featherfoot Warrior Series will also be on the card.
The final full month of the season will kick off on August 1st with the first visit of the season by Mike VanDusen’s Capital Region Sprint Agency (CRSA) RaceSaver 305 Sprint Car Series. Only the CRSA and DIRTcar Modifieds will compete in heat races. All weekly divisions will be on the card. The DIRTcar Modifieds will compete in a $3,000 to win special event on August 8th while the Night of Features will take place a week later. Also on tap will be your chance to meet the racers.
On Friday August 22nd all weekly divisions will be joined by the Vintage Modifieds and the final event for the Featherfoot Warrior Series. The DIRTcar Modifieds and DIRTcar Pro Stocks will crown their track champions on August 29th. The DIRTcar Pro Stocks will compete in a $600 to win event. There will also be a back to school kid’s raffle.
The month of September will feature two events to round out the season. On Friday September 5th the CRSA RaceSaver 305 Sprint Cars will headline the evening that will also include the Sportsman, Limited Sportsman, Street Stocks and Four Cylinder divisions. An Enduro will also be on the card. The season will end with the Northeast Crate Nationals on September 12th. It is part of the GRIT Sportsman Series.
The 31st Annual Lebanon Valley Super Swap Meet will take place on Sunday November 2nd, rain or shine. Vendor gates open at 6am with the front gates open from 8am to 4pm.
